By addressing the moral, spiritual, economical and physical condition of African-Americans in Cincinnati and the Avondale community, Shelton-Reid, Inc. presents long-term solutions to the problems in the hearts and minds of the city’s residents. Through education and the truth of God’s principles for living, Shelton-Reid, Inc. works to ensure a future of better families, better children and better communities.
The Mission of the Shelton-Reid, Inc. is to transform the culture of low expectations and violence in the African-American community into one of hope and promise through Christian education and self-help initiatives, including housing assistance, in collaboration with Zion Baptist Church in the Avondale Community.
A healthy Avondale community where people respect God, themselves and their fellow men and women. Love is demonstrated on the streets (and in the neighborhood) with friendly people who treat each other as they wish to be treated. People are gainfully employed, and there is no evidence of drug dealing on the street corners and no violent deaths.
Shelton-Reid, Inc. is a 501c-3 Public Charity organized May 30, 2007. It began when several Zion Baptist church-sponsored, HUD affiliated, low-rent housing projects were liquidated after serving the Avondale and surrounding communities for over 25 years. The respective Boards of the projects received State approval to combine their funds as “seed capital” to serve the community in a NEW WAY. Since that day, Shelton-Reid, Inc. has promoted high-quality educational services for families who are being challenged spiritually, economically and educationally.
